3-D TV!
February 17, 2010so this summer some new great things are coming around, besides my birthday, sony is launching its new 3d tv line up. Now, yes 3d ready tvs have been out in the past and havnt really caught on. But sony is going to be the first and only ones that are going to give you a true 3d experiance with a true 1080p resolution. How you ask? well in the past companies like Mitsubishi and Samsung have made 3d ready tvs, that use just the typical basic polarized glass to do the 3d at 240 frams a second but showing you half of the resolution at a time, basicaly flashing you one half a screen then the other never actually using the tvs full ability for hd. Now sony is actually using a powered eye glass set that has little shutters that shut at 240 times a second, so the tv never cheats you out of half the resolution and you get full 3d with out having to sacrafice the better resolution. Now the joys of being sony means you have alot of market in the gaming world as well as being the inventor of the blu-ray movement, so also launching this summer is going to be an update for the play station 3 to make it 3d as well as launching a new line of blu ray players that can do the 3d ability. Best thing is that you dont have to buy new games or blu rays to do this and if you have a ps3 already you can get the 3d on your games or movies. Now they are makeing 3 different model lines a nx, hx and xbr that will be 3d going in size from a 40,40,52,55 then also in one or two models a 65 and 70. Just like always sony only gives you the price of one model as of now and havnt set a release date for the other models , but on the website sonystyle.com they have the nx series in a 46″ for $2299, but dont let that worry you, every year they start off like that and usally drop in price very fast. If any of this intrest you, you can go to any of the local sonystyle stores in austin or san antonio to check it out, I just did and it was mind blowing.
So what happens when you bring all your friends over to check out the new 3D TV set? It would be kind of lame to take turns watching the movie because you don’t have enough glasses. Still though it is a step in the right direction. I wonder how much extra sets of the glasses run. That will be a big factor
