Future of Social Media
March 25, 2010The Future of social media
In my opinion the future of social media is going to go in every direction affecting everything in our life. Magazines like consumer report or websites like cnet will just almost disappear and be replaced with customer’s personal reviews of products that they post on sites like you tube were you can get a true unbiased opinion. In a class today I watched a movie called “outfoxed” about how Fox News is a very biased right wing republican view and will openly attack any opposes that try to contradict its views. Now in the future I see sites such as digg and other sites will soon follow that will support just an open format of reporting, just look at twitter in the Iraq elections. In this open format people deiced what they want to see and hear about the news, offering a truly “fair” news organization that relies on its viewers to give all the news from both sides of view, your far left and your far right views. Places like this web blog will become the new wave of mass media. I am actually really hoping this happens very soon, because like said in the video from class, people power, we trust the friends opinions over others all the time. We can take control of the mass media, and take it away from the 6 people that control it now. Another big movement I think will be on sites like facebook or MySpace, you will come encounter with needing personal security, or some way to keep “identity theft” from happing, and affecting you in new ways, such as future jobs or relationships. The best thing about social media, its open to everyone idea, is also its scariest allowing very little security or protection to its users. Especially with how easy it is to access the social sites, and how mobile devices with Internet are getting smaller and smaller with a smaller price tag attached to it. What I say here is just a small possible idea, comment and add to the idea and lets see what you can come up with.
